Inna Kim (Asia-Pacific Part-Time MBA Intake 2024), a Power System Engineer and Deputy Director from Kazakhstan, is balancing complex responsibilities while focusing on sustainable power systems and strategic projects. Recognizing the need to expand her expertise beyond technical knowledge, Inna decided to pursue an MBA.

She chose the HKUST Asia-Pacific Part-Time MBA (Digial MBA) for its world-class faculty, strong industry connections, and flexible digital format. “HKUST is one of Asia’s top business schools, and its Digital MBA offers the unique opportunity to engage with a diverse network of business leaders while continuing to make an impact in my industry,” Inna explains.

A Catalyst for Industry Transformation

Inna aims to leverage the MBA to accelerate her career and contribute to large-scale energy transformation initiatives. For her, DiMBA is more than an academic journey, it is a strategic step toward addressing challenges and opportunities in the evolving energy sector. By gaining expertise in strategy, finance, and leadership, Inna aims to drive innovation and sustainability in the power system industry. The program also offers her the chance to expand her global network by collaborating with industry experts and peers from diverse sectors, gaining new perspectives and ideas for her field.

A Diverse Learning Environment

DiMBA’s diverse cohort brings together professionals from various industries, cultures, and backgrounds. DiMBA has attracted students from over 20 nationalities in recent three cohorts, including countries like Canada, Germany and UK, creating a truly global learning environment. Through case discussions, group projects, and networking opportunities, Inna expects to gain fresh insights into problem-solving and decision-making. “The diversity of the cohort is one of the most valuable aspects of the program,” Inna shares. “It allows me to engage with professionals from different industries and cultures, gaining a broader perspective on global business challenges and solutions.”

Balancing Motherhood and Professional Growth

As a mother of three, Inna effectively manages her career, education, and family responsibilities. The DiMBA program provides a blended learning experience that combines self-paced study, virtual live lectures, and optional on-campus electives. This structure allows her to pursue a world-class education without compromising her commitments, while also enhancing critical skills such as time management, strategic thinking, and leadership.

Inna aims to inspire other professionals, especially women in leadership, by demonstrating that career growth and personal fulfillment can coexist. “By successfully managing these responsibilities, I hope to inspire other professionals, particularly women in leadership, to see that career growth and personal fulfilment can go hand in hand,” she shares.

Advantages of Choosing DiMBA

Inna Kim’s story exemplifies how the program empowers professionals to lead in their industries while maintaining balance in their lives. With its flexible format, globally recognized faculty, and diverse cohort, DiMBA provides an ideal platform for professionals like Inna to expand their horizons, gain practical knowledge, and prepare for the next stage of their careers.
